アイシールド21 -- Eyeshield 21, written by Riichiro Inagaki and illustrated by Yusuke Murata, revolves around a physically unassuming and non-assertive boy named Sena Kobayakawa. A freshman in high school, his only remarkable physical abilities are his running speed and dodging techniques, which catch the eye of the American football team captain, Yoichi Hiruma. Their team, the Devil Bats, have always been the worst in the region. Hiruma hopes to improve their chances of winning by drafting Sena against his will to play for him. Though unwilling at first, it eventually becomes Sena's driving goal to help the team meet their dream of playing in the Christmas Bowl, the yearly football competition between the Kansai and Kantou regions of Japan. |
